Native Indian of the LUISENO NATION’s tribe and internationally acclaimed Artist Sy Calac,
His mega Versatility has helped him create a multitude of looks using hair, makeup, body paint and photography. As a self-taught makeup artist he admitted, “I view the world as moving art, it creates color, movement and character. We are the face and image of our world just a snap shot behind the camera.
“I realized since child hood I wanted to create art, and live a creative life.
In 2007 Calac graduated from the prestigious Paul Mitchell Academy of Cosmetology.
In 2009, Calac attended TNT Agency for the Masters Course In Photo Shoots High Fashion and Runway.
Following, receiving specialty training from Cinema Make up school For Film,TV, special FXS and Air Bushing.
Calac’s advanced training came from some of the industry’s most respected and noted artist known globally including: Leonard Engelman,Alejandra Barraza,Greg McDougall,Kevin Brennan,JD Bowers,Gayla Basehart,Nelly Recchina,Mireille Berand,James Kagel and Steve Costanza.
Sy Calac’s noted and highly acclaimed work has graced the covers and pages of numerous high profile publications. In 2009 his work was featured in Peoples Magazine, Iona Magazine, Beauty Times and Vogue Magazine. Sy’s creations can also be seen in various advertisement campaigns including: Paul Mitchell, Calvin Clein, Macy’s and Mac Cosmetics, just to name a few. Sy’s fascination for the arts as noted and famed make-up and hair artist grew even more, which later lead to his love for being behind the camera lens and gaining extensive training as a photographer. He felt that this addition to his hair and makeup skills, helped him understand more about the industry of television and capturing the essence of beauty and art from a photographers visual perspective.
Sy is an avid supporter of the arts community and strives to create greatness in the world and give back to his own community. “as a reminder of who I am and how far I have come as an individual.
